Walsall travelled to Church Road with a team more than caplable of beating 'The Mikes' but found themselves leaving empty handed. With two summer signings, both of whom have been at Premiership clubs in Josh O'Keefe and Peter Till, England U18 Netan Sansara along with first team regular Alex Nicholls Walsall had players in all areas of the field that should have caused their hosts problems.

Walsall lined up:

Tim Cooney
Rory Wood
Netan Sansara
Josh O'Keefe (c)
Alex Hickman
Dan Partridge
Peter Till
Sam Adkins
Alex Nicholls
Jamie Patterson
Jordan McCourt.

Subs Tom Overfield, Sean Geddes, Louis Keenan, Jack Cresswell, George Bowerman.

Boldmere came out 2-0 victors and a full report will appear shortly, but gave the perfect response to Saturday's horror show, producing a superb performance to overcome a second string Saddlers side.

Boldmere manager, and Walsall fan, Rob Mallaband took the chance to check out some of the young talent emerging through his reserves, with Richard Dunleavy and Johaine Thompson both impressing on their first starts. Matt Hawker also slotted into their midfield.

The Mikes had to overcome the early loss of Keeper Adam Jenkins, but youngster Sean Butler came in to prove he is more than capable, producing key saves to keep the Mikes level at the break.

Rob Mallaband was understandably delighted "that was just what we needed after Saturday. Everybody played well on the night". Assistant Craig Feasey added "it wasn't just a good result, it was a good performance".

The Mikes will attempt to take this form into Saturday's away league fixture at Shifnal Town.
