BEWERS IN, WILLIAMS TO COME?

Former Aston Villa and Notts County full back Jonathan Bewers, 21, has joined on a non contract basis after an impressive reserve outing in a 2-2 draw at Rotherham last night. Mark Wright netted both goals after the Saddlers had found themselves two nil down. Bewers may make his first team debut against Wednesday.

Merse is also hoping to sign former Northern Ireland defender Mark Williams. The 31 year old is set to leave MK Dons and the Walsall boss is hoping to net the player he missed out on in pre season.

"Mark Williams is a player that I really admire," added Merson. "He is an out-and-out defender who has the experience and presence we need at the moment. I was keen to bring him to the club during the pre season, but hopefully we can get the deal back on.”
