Beat The Manager 2009/10

Last updated : 19 July 2009 By Andy Van Hagen
The Walsall 'Beat The Manager' prediction league is a fun free-to-enter game where you are invited to predict the results of all your teams league games during the season. You gain points according to the accuracy of your predictions, and compete against fellow fans for the prestigious 'BTM' title.

An added bonus means that for each team's league you enter, you are automatically entered into the prediction game for the entire division in which your team is playing. Your predictions for your specific team are used in the division-wide games.
The first time you enter the 'Beat The Manager' game, you will be required to register, providing your name, address, email address, a 'Beat The Manager' team name and access password.
Once you have entered the game by supplying your designated password, you can submit your prediction by clicking on the 'Predict' button above. The next three league matches scheduled to be played by Walsall for the season will be displayed. For the match of your choice, simply select your predicted scoreline from the drop-down boxes and click on the 'Submit Score' button. Once submitted, your prediction will be saved and confirmed to you on screen.
Changing your prediction works in almost identical fashion to your first submission. Simply click on the 'Predict' button, select your predicted scoreline from the drop-down boxes and click on the same 'Submit Score' button. Your prediction will be changed and confirmed to you once again.
You can submit, and subsequently change, your prediction as often as you like up until half-an-hour before the scheduled kick-off time of the selected game. Should there be a problem with the prediction you enter, such as submitting after the half-hour deadline, you will be shown the reason on screen.
If a game is abandoned or postponed, any prediction you have made will either a) count if the result stands, or b) be carried forward and used when the game is replayed. If the latter, you will be able to change such a prediction when it subsequently becomes one of the next three games scheduled to be played.
You are awarded points depending on the accuracy of your score. If you predict the score correctly you are awarded a 'win', and will receive 16 points.

Guessing the correct result gives you a 'draw' worth 5 points. Predict the wrong result, however, and you get no points (a 'loss'). There is a chance to win bonus points: if you correctly guess either team's number of goals it's 2 points, and you are rewarded with 5 if you correctly predict a game will end in a draw.

Here is a table showing exactly what each prediction could give you:
For example, if Walsall and B.T.M. Town draw 2-2

However, be warned that persistent repeated identical scorelines will see points deducted from your overall score. For each consecutive identical scoreline entered in excess of three, you will be deducted three points from your total, i.e. entering five 1-1 scorelines in a row will see six points taken from your score, regardless of their point scoring success or failure.
The league positions for both the team and division leagues will be determined by the following criteria in order:
1. Most number of points scored.
2. Most number of predictions made (more guesses wins in this game!).
3. Most number of correct scores predicted.
4. Use of a random number order generator!
Footy MAD reserve the right to remove any players from the league who are found to have contravened the rules. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Use of inappropriate language in a user and/or team name.
- Entering a team league more than once by using false names and aliases etc.
Should you have any dispute regarding your league position, prediction entries etc., please feel free to email the Footy-Mad prediction team (btm@footymad.net), clearly stating your full name and your team name. We will endeavour to check out your dispute, and email you back accordingly with our decision, which will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.
The prediction league is intended as a light-hearted, fun game to be enjoyed by fans, and as such FootyMAD cannot be held responsible for any loss, directly or indirectly, caused by use of this prediction game, E & O accepted.

Remember you dont have to be a Saddler to enter!!  Maybe you have the advantage when the head rules the heart every week??
