Barrowman gone

Last updated : 26 June 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
The official website has today revealed the news that striker Andrew Barrowman has left the club by mutual consent.

The striker was a panic signing by ex-manager Paul Merson after Matty Fryatt and Jorge Leitao left the club. Merson was in desperate need for a new striker and main target Lee Peacock went elsewhere.

Barrowman made his debut in the 5-0 horror show away at Brentford and really it never got much better from there. The one exception was his great goal (and only goal in a Walsall shirt) in the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe.

With the signing of two strikers this summer and Alex Nicholls making great progress in his return from a broken leg, Barrowman was looking at being well down the pecking order for this coming season.
