Atherstone 0 Walsall XI 2

A Walsall XI beat Atherstone with a goals from our trialist Sillah and Hanna.

After going in at the break level, Sillah hit the bar in the second half before opening the scoring. Generally the captain of Gambia looked comfortable and stood out with a good work rate, control, passing range and wing play.

The same could not be said of our other trialist Junior. He did not enjoy himself at The Adders and based on this performance will not be returning.

The 'Sun Tan Man', Chairman Jeff Bonser and our Manager Dickie Dosh were all in attendance as the time comes to make our decisions. It's always hard to judge when playing a side from the Midland Football Alliance who are 7 levels below us in the Football League Pyramid.

Ian Roper was taken off in the second half to be replaced by Charlton Davies, fueling suggestion he may be in contention for a squad place on Saturday. Mark Bradley dropped into the back line from midfield and looked assured.

Starting XI Bossu, Taundry, Roper, Smith, Sansara, Nicholls, McDermott, Bradley, Sillah, Deeney, Junior. Subs: C. Davies, Hanna, Harris, Quarless, Doran.
