Alexander's view on the game

Speaking to his club's website at the end of the 5-0 thumping. Peterborough Manager Keith Alexander had this to say:

I am very disappointed. I have been in football a long while and I don't think I have ever lost three games on the trot. I don't think I have ever lost a game 5-0 with two players sent-off either.

'As disappointed as I am, I thought we were unlucky to be 3-0 down at half-time. However, we think we have players who can defend and on that showing they obviously can't. I said there were going to be changes after the Darlington match and we couldn't really make too many changes due to personnel, but there is no way I can put up with that.

'The first six games we looked a strong defensive unit and in the space of three matches we have conceded nine goals. The bottom line is I am the manager and I take full responsibility and I will do something about it.

'The players will have to go it is as simple as that. These people who are here think they can play and they can't. There is no way I am putting up with that. We will have to shift them out and bring others in because that is just not acceptable.

'The players have got complacent. Walsall are a good side and they have won all of their home matches and our plan was to keep it tight for the first 20 minutes, but we gave them so many soft goals. We passed it long at the wrong time, we passed it short at the wrong time and it was just an awful performance.

'I have had two of my most experienced players sent-off and they should know better. I said in the dressing room they should club together and give the supporters who travelled their money back, because I would have been embarrassed if I was in the stands. I want to bring new players in, I know who I want and hopefully I will get the chance to bring them in.

'You don't go out to play poorly, but the players were poor. We gave it a go at the start of the second half, but then we gifted them a fourth goal. If I am going to be honest, both dismissal's were poor. I don't want to be disrespectful, but I have had Mr Singh many times and I don't think I have ever had a decision. Nevertheless, he is not to blame for the defeat. He is to blame for the two dismissal's, Paul Carden's tackle I didn't think was bad and I will find out what Guy Branston said.

'We will turn it around, I have no problems with that. I am just disappointed I can't turn it around with the players I already have at this football club, but there will be changes,' Alexander said
