2008/9 the season of seven subs!

For the first time ever the up-coming season will see Walsall FC allowed to name a maximum of seven substitutes, rather than the usual five, in this terms Carling and FA Cup competitions. As normal only three of those seven will be able to used in any match.

While Football League sides will only have to adjust to this in cup football, the rule change becomes the norm in FA Premier League fixtures where clubs will be allowed to name seven substitutes every game.
