The above is Merthyrs FA cup record from 1946 - 2005. These are the stats for the First round proper and beyond, qualification games are not included. As you can see Merthyr have only ever once won a game on home soil in the FA Cup. Most of their joy have come from away days.

It was the 1999/2000 season the last time Merthyr were in the FA cup first round proper. Stalybridge Celtic were their opponents and while holding them to a draw at home they were later knocked out 3-1 in the replay.

Prior to this Merthyrs FA Cup results are as follows

The last time Merthyr won a FA cup first round tie was back in the 1990/91 season where Merthyr disposed of Sutton United. They held them 1-1 at home and then beat them in the replay 1-0.

The record for Merthyr is unspectacular with little highlights, however they have usually gone out to higher opponents while having away ties. Lets just hope on Friday night the Valley residents dont have a giant killing story to tell!!
