Matty Fryatt - The Walsall Stats (Before Leicester City)
Last Updated : 10-Jan-2006 by
Well here it is the career stats of Matty Fryatt during his time at Walsall FC.
The stats for the last two seasons really speak for themselves. It is now where we see just what a loss to the team Matty will be. Last season 15 goals from 24 starts and 15 sub appearences, a great scoring record by anyones standards let alone for a then 18 year old stiker. His goals kept a struggling side alive.
This season 14 goals in 27 games is just slightly better than 1 goal per 2 games ratio. Again he has carried the weight of expectation on his young shoulders and produced the goods. With the 34 league goals Walsall have scored this season 11 have come from our former star striker.
What is alarming is that if you look at our top goal scorers chart ...
|
... Fryatt and and Jorge have contributed 21 goals between them and have now both left the club. Also Bennett is our 4th top goal scorer with only two goals and now he has gone.
With the major sales out the way, the recruiting must now begin to replace the goals we have lost from our side in the last fortnight. The guess would be Merson will be looking to bring in a few players players who can regularly contribute goals so we avoid the reliance that we have had on a single player (Matty) over the last 2 years.
