U's smash transfer record on ex-Saddler

Last updated : 05 July 2007 By Andy Van Hagen
Colchester United have smashed their club transfer record by paying £300,000 for 29-year-old Clive Platt. The fee is six times their previous record of £50,000.

Platt joins the U's from MK Dons where he had just enjoyed his most productive season of his career. Eighteen goals in a season is only the second time he has broken into double figures to date. Now he will face a real challenge jumping two levels and playing along the likes of Teddy Sheringham.
