Shroot gets the boot

Last updated : 07 October 2009 By Andy Van Hagen
Robin Shroot who left his loan agreememnt with Walsall early last season, has been shown the door by Burton Albion. He was to stay at the League new boys for the season, which was to be reviewed in January to ensure both parties were happy with the deal at the halfway point.

Manager Paul Peschisolido admitted to the Burton Mail: "Things haven't worked out. I just feel it's in the best interest of all parties to send Robin back so he can pursue his career with Birmingham."

Shroot, who joined Birmingham from non-league football in July of last year, had been unable to hold down a regular first-team place at the Pirelli Stadium, just as he was unable to at the Banks's Stadium

After a spell on the sidelines, he was recalled for last month's home game against Dagenham & Redbridge.

He kept his place for the visit to league leaders Bournemouth but had to be admonished by Peschisolido after the player reacted to being substituted.

Shroot was clearly not happy at being taken off in the 73rd minute, with the Pesch saying at the time: "Nobody likes to be substituted.

The Brewers boss told the Burton Mail: "We have used Robin mostly as a wide (midfield) player and we have plenty of lads who can play there.

"Andy Corbett and Jimmy Phillips played there against Rochdale on Sunday and weʼve also got Russell Penn, Jacques Maghoma and Marc Goodfellow keen to have a go.

"On top of that, Keith Gilroy is nearing fitness and is due a run out."
