Ex-Saddler Mark Robins has finally left Rotherham and the Don Valley Stadium to take charge at Barnsley FC this morning

The Tykes initially approached
Rotherham last Wednesday morning and the Millers gave permission for Robins to travel across South Yorkshire. for talks.

With the saga stretching out over the weekend Robins was placed on gardenig leave whilst the situation was resolved and a compensation package was negotiated.

Assistant manager John Breckin took charge of Rotherham for Saturdays 3-1 win over Chesterfield but he too was placed on leave on Sunday after expressing interest in talking to the Oakwell outfit, going with Robins. He completed his move this yesterday along with Steve Taylor and Nick Daws.

Finally, the worlds worst kept secret will be confirmed at this afternoon's press conference with Robins following suit and signing a contract.

A statement on the Millers official website confirmed the appointment and reassured supporters that the club start their search for a new manager and backroom staff with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Robins told his new club's official website: "I am delighted to be here after a protracted few days and I can now start the job.

"It has been frustrating and I have been kept waiting in the wings a little, but at the same time thankful that it has all be sorted out and resolved.

"I had been at Rotherham for nine years as a player, youth team coach and manager and spent a large proportion of my working life there.

"The club will hold a place close to me for a long, long time and we had some good times there. It has been a turbulent time, but I am looking forward to the new challenge.

"Hopefully we can hit the ground running. There is a clean slate for everyone.

"What has happened in the past does not make any difference and as a new manager coming in I have my own ideas.

"We have to get points on the board quickly. We are playing catch-up and our season starts now."
