West Ham boss Alan Pardew says his players should apologise to goalkeeper Jimmy Walker after Saturday's home defeat by Portsmouth.

Pards made six changes from the side that beat Bolton in the Cup replay last midweek and it exposed the lack of depth in his squad. Only keeper Jimmy Walker emerged with any credit on his return after almost a year out with a knee injury picked up in the Championship play-off final win over Preston.

Pardew said: "The rest of the players perhaps owe him an apology for the performance because he was terrific and deserved to have a better team in front of him.

"I don't want to single anyone out but he's been so dedicated in his comeback.

"It was a shame for him to concede four goals. There's a good chance he'll be playing on Monday, Shaka Hislop is still doubtful."
