No need for Hawley op

Carlisle United's top scorer Karl Hawley received good news today in that scan results today revealed his ankle tendon damage does not require surgery.

The Hitman, who has notched 12 goals so far this season, limped off in the game against Chesterfield on Tuesday night and suffered extensive swelling around the joint in the follow up to the injury.

Carlisle United's physio told his club's website www.carlisleunited.co.uk "My best guess is that he will be out for 6 weeks. It is the type of injury that tends to require an initial period of rest followed by steady build up.

After looking at the scans and assessing Karl's ankle it was decided he doesn't need an operation, which is good news. The surgeon will check him over again in about four weeks time to make sure that everything is healing as it should be, and I expect him to be out for about six weeks"
