Last night Radio WM were reporting that Paul Merson was to become Chelmsford City's new manager. Chelmsford City are looking to replace manager Craig Edwards at the end of the season and see Merson as the ideal candidate who will also raise their profile to never seen before levels.
The Essex Ryman League Premier Division club are a non-league club that has greater potential. They have moved back to their Melbourne Stadium with gates of 1,500-plus which will only grow as they progress through the football pyramid.

Chelmsford City's Chairman Peter Stroud was recently quoted saying "The board have said all along that once we were back in Chelmsford, with our own ground and clubhouse facilities, we would seriously look to develop the club with the aim of graduating on the field which, in turn, will generate the income needed to sustain the club at a higher level" Merson may have been identified as the man that can bring this to the club.
