Ex-Walsall and Birmingham player takes Blue Square manager's job

Ex-Walsall defender David Holdsworth has been confirmed as the new manager of Mansfield Town.

Holdsworth has left Unibond Premier League side Ilkeston Town, to sign an 18 month deal with 'The Stags'. New Chairman Andy Perry has told reporters he had received glowing references from Trevor Francis and Glenn Roeder amongst other well respected people within the game.

Now 40, David, twin brother of striker Dean, represented Watford, Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Walsall, Bolton Wanderers and Scarborough before seeing out his playing days at now defunct Gretna.
