Ex-Saddler Dave Mehew could be calling on his former Bristol Rovers team-mates to boost Gloucester City's northern links.

The Blue Square North's most southern team is looking to strengthen its squad and Mehew is not ruling out loaning players from league clubs where he can.

"Talking with northern clubs is a possibility," said Mehew. "I used to play with Martin O'Connor who is the assistant at Walsall.

"There is a chance I might speak with them to see if they have anyone to come out on loan but I need the right players.

"I am looking at all options but I do still believe in my squad."

Now manager of Gloucester City, Mehew joined Walsall from Bristol Rovers where he made over 280 appearances. He played 13 times for the Saddlers during 1994-5. Over the summer he joined Northampton Town before dropping into non-league serving Yate Town, Bath City, Farnborough Town, Rushden & Diamonds, Forest Green Rovers, Bath City, Clevedon Town, Paulton Rovers, Brislington, Weston-super-Mare and Bitton, Bristol Manor Farm.

In May he guided Gloucester City to promotion via the play-offs
