Mark Robins is expected to be named the Barnsley manager within a week after his current employers Rotherham United placed him on "gardening leave" today.

The Millers gave Robins permission to talk to Barnsley about succeeding Simon Davey and the decision taken today by chairman Tony Stewart seems to suggest a deal is imminent.

The 'Tykes' Operations Manager Don Rowing also hinted that Robins was set to enter the Oakwell hotseat when he told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Mark is a young ambitious manager and came across very well. He ticks all the boxes.

"However we can't make a final decision until he has spoken to our owner Patrick Cryne. When that has happened I think it will be a very quick decision."
