Ex-Walsall strker Didier Tholot, now head coach of FC Sion was dumped out of the 2009/10 Europa League despite a fine 2-2 draw at Fenerbahce. The damage was done in their first leg when they fell to a 2-0 home defeat, which meant Tholot's side lost 4-2 on aggregate.

Tholot is now enjoying his 3rd spell at FC Sion, with his first being where Walsall signed him from under the management of Jan Sorenson. That season Tholot, on a short term contract scored 4 goals in 14 games (including a super strike Vs Watford) for the Saddlers.

After leaving Bescot Tholot went to Basel where he scored 16 in 44 appearances. The following 2000-1 season, turning out for Swiss Young Boys, the striker recorded similar figures to his at Walsall 3 goals in 14 games.

Then he took the decision to drop down to Vevry, who in 2002 made him player manager. 36 goals in 42 games showed he still could play at a higher level and FC Sion again gave him that opportunity, under the title player-trainer.

In 2005 Tholot left to join Libourne Saint-Seurin, who had just been promoted to Li,gue 2 in his home country France from the Championnat National. After 3 years of his guidance Tholot joined Reims where he was an ex-player having represented the club in the 1990-1 season, before his move to St. Etienne.

Tholot left the Champagne region of France in April to re-join FC Sion in Switzerland as Head Coach.
