Ex-Saddler in the frame to fill Barnsley hot seat

Barnsley have put Roitherham United's Mark Robins at the top of their short list to replace axed Simon Davey.

Davey left by mutual consent after a poor start to the season which saw 4 defeats out of 5. In the 2 1/2 years at the helm Davey was open to alot of fan abuse following three relegation struggles despite masterminding the Reds' fine and unlikely 2008 cup run.

The Oakwell board have identifield their wish to approach Robins who has achieved great things at Millmoor under financial and point deduction constraints.

However struggling Barnsley want a young coach who can work under their regime, who would concentrateon the playing side while they search for their own players at a higher level within the club.

This could be the stumbling block, would Robins leave Millmoor where he is seemingly being linked with every vacant managerial position for a new role where he is not in charge of recruitment?
