Grimsby Town's manager Mike Newell is hopeful that former Walsall left midfielder Peter Sweeney could be lured back to the club.
Sweeney spent the end of last season on loan with playing eight times, helping them to avoid relegation to the Conference.
Newell said: "I've spoken to Sweens a few times and had a chat earlier this week, and he hasn't ruled anything out.
