Ex-Saddler cuts short stay to head back to France

Last updated : 01 September 2009 By Andy Van Hagen
Ex-Walsall keeper Bertrand Bossu, who made the surprising move to Aberdeen after being released from Walsall in May 08 has returned home to France.

Announced on Aberdeen's official website www.afc.co.uk it is cited his reason for leaving is having failed to dislodge first-choice Jamie Langfield, and therefore he has now chosen to end his short stay in Scotland.

The Frenchman, who had previous league spells in England with Walsall, Accrington Stanley, Darlington, Barnet and Gillingham, had slid further down the pecking order following the summer signing of Stuart Nelson from Norwich City. Since first arriving in the UK in 2000, Bossu has only made himself first choice at Hayes and Yeading, where he made 36 appearances. For all his other clubs he made only a total 26 first team appearances, 4 of which were off the bench.

At Walsall he joined the single appearance club, when he covered for Clayton Ince and kept a clean sheet at Chester City in front of 1000 travelling Saddlers on a Friday Night.

A statement on the club's official website said: "The club would like to wish Bert all the best for the future and thank him for his commitment and professionalism during his spell at Pittodrie."
