After his 1000th appearance (a 4-0 home defeat against to Port Vale), Steve Claridge was looking to the future. He told his clubs website www.afcb.co.uk of his future plans, beyond the milestone mark:

"I'm extremely fit because I've looked after myself with this in mind. It's just a little bit of sharpness I'm lacking. I've only had a couple of training sessions so once I've got a few more under my belt I'll have more of an edge out on the park.

I felt ok and was pleased with how it went. I felt I could have played the whole game and I'll be coming in most of next week to work on the sharpness. It's the short sharp stuff that I need to work on.

"Psychologically for me I know I can go out and play a game of football so the game was a benefit for me. I want to get more sharpness and go beyond a month here so we'll see what happens."

This goes to prove Claridge is commited to playing for Bournemouth and is looking to build on his 1000 appearance. His media work will be put on hold while the 40 year old focussses on prolonging his playing days.
