Walsall fans favourite Dean Keates has cancelled his Peterborough United contract by mutual consent. Deano had 6 months left to run on his 3 year deal but was seemingly unhappy at just picking up wages as he looks for first team football again.
Keates of course played a starring role for Walsall in our League Two title winning season and caught the eye of big spending then Boro manager Fergie Jnr. He was a big hit playing a full role in their back-to-back promotions to the Championship but this season found games hard to come by. He only started 2 games and appeared 5 times off the bench. When called upon he continued to give his 100% attitude and even scored at St.James' Park.
Walsall have already recruited Clayton McDonald in January who was also released from his contract early by his club Manchester City. Could there be another return on the cards in the coming days?? Keates is Walsall born, a Walsall fan, if we can ... bring him home!
