Danny Fox move heads into extra time

Celtic look to have missed last night's 11pm deadline for signing players to play in the Champions League qualifiers but their capture of Coventry left back Danny Fox has moved into extra-time.

Fox, now 23, travelled to Glasgow for a medical and to talk terms with a view to making the squad to face Dynamo Moscow next Wednesday. However a deal has some way to go, it is believed Reading and Nottingham Forest moved to match Celtic's offer, believed to be in the region of £1.4million. Surprising as Forest had just signed a £200k left back from Brighton.

As the player considers his options, Celtic will hope to make use of a UEFA clause which allows Champions League clubs to sign one player up to 24 hours before a first leg game. If Fox signs by Tuesday afternoon he could still face the Russians and become the first Saddler to appear in such a game after leaving Walsall FC.

To achieve that just a year and a half after leaving Walsall would be fantastic for the player who Walsall commented they were selling as the finished article.

Either way Danny Fox, Scott Dann and Anthony Gerrard are a great advert for the club in showing young players can get big, career making moves from Walsall if they put in the performances.
