Colchester boss Paul Lambert has insisted his the club acted correctly in trying to extend goalkeeper Jimmy Walker's loan from West Ham United.
It was believed and announced that Colchester had extended the former Walsall goalkeeper's services until the end of the season. However the Football League have said they did NOT receive the paperwork before the closing of January's transfer deadline.
For the loan to be extended past the emergency loan maximum of 91 days, the paperwork would have had to have reached the FA before the 5 O'Clock deadline. Colchester Manager Phil Lambert insists it was sent because 'he saw it himself'.
Should the situation not be resolved Walker's loan spell would end on 5 March, having so far made 13 appearances for his new club, with the last being at Walsall last Saturday:
