Evandro BrandaoBenfica the signing of former Walsall youngster Evandro Brandao.

Now 18, the youngster spent two-years at Old Trafford, after being snapped up by United from Walsall's youth team in 2007, a year after joining the Saddlers

Brandao failed to make a first-team breakthrough with United and was released earlier this year having only appeared for youth and reserves.  After leaving it looked as if he would sign for Sporting Braga, but Benfica have now moved to secure his services on a two-and-a-half year deal.

"I signed a contract for two-and-a-half years," Brandao told Maisfutebol.

"I will go to the academy team. The most important thing is that I recover the lost time and return to action.

"That's what I want most right now. I will work to get up to the senior team. I hope to get that chance."

The Angolan born forward, spent 4 years in Portugal before coming to the UK and once leaving United spelt his desire to return to Portugal where he has represented his country at various age levels.
