In a interview with BBC sport, Steve Claridge has shown his desire to find another club. Currently on 999 career appearances, our former forward is determined to make it 1000. Although he has not had any contact with clubs over the summer sice leaving the Saddlers.

"I have not talked to any clubs this summer. But I will get that game, no matter what, so that is not an issue. I train every day and am extremely fit. I think I have got a lot to offer but I cannot force anyone to sign me."

This summer is the first since 1982 he has been without a senior club in either a player or manager capacity.

"I am a free agent so it is possible I can sign for someone after the transfer deadline but so far there is nothing in the offing and nothing has been said or done. I have not made contact with anybody."

In the meantime Claridge is occupying himself by joining the BBC's Five live team. He see's his future in the media but he is still focussed on getting that all important 1000th career appearance under his belt.
