Westwood's replacement demands transfer

Hartlepool United have accepted a written transfer request from defender Darren Williams.

The 29-year-old former Cardiff City player joined the League One club in a the summer of 2005 and was signed as a direct relplacement for their former captain Chris Westwood who joined Walsall.

This season Williams made 37 starts for the club

Since leaving Sunderland the defender has struggled to settle. He cited personal reasons in his transfer request but the player having played all his football in the top two divisions proir to last season is looking for a move back to League one.
