Swindon look to follow Walsall's lead?

Swindon Town Chairman Andrew Fitton has revealed he would consider selling the naming rights of the County Ground in order to raise extra funds for the League One club.

He said it “could make good financial sense” , and would follow in the footsteps of rivals Huddersfield and ourselves in the world of sponsored stadia.

Fitton told the Swindon Advertiser:

“I’m not foolish enough to try and rename somewhere like St James’ Park, but you can give a ground like this a name and everyone local would still know it as the County Ground and call it that.

“You have to be willing to look at these things and I think it could make good financial sense.

“It would also be very good if one of the Swindon companies like Honda, Zurich or Nationwide wanted to link themselves to the football by naming the stadium.

“The stadium would have one name, but everyone else would still know it as the County Ground.”
