Peterborough striker set for lengthy lay off

Last updated : 04 September 2006 By Andy Van Hagen
Peterborough United have revealed that striker Simon Yeo will have surgery on a fractured cheekbone.

Yeo sustained the injury during the 1-0 home defeat against Bury on Sunday and will now be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The fracture was a result of a collision with Bury goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Yeo signed for Peterborough during the summer having played under Keith Alexander twice at Lincoln City. Sandwiched between the two spells was a period with the New Zealand Knights. This season Yeo has scored twice in seven games for the Posh making him joint top scorer with Trevor Benjamin.

The injury of course rules him out of the Peterborough side that will visit Bescot on Tuesday 12th September.
