Kilkenney was wanted by a number of Championship clubs but he has chosen a move to Boundary Park, initially until January 1st.
He has fallen down the pecking order at St Andrewsvand this will be the second time he has joined the Latics on loan, previously having enjoyed a six-month loan with the club in 2004/05.
