Notts County appoint new boss

Notts County have appointed Steve Thompson as their new manager, who replaces Gudjon Thordarson, who left the club by last month.

Thompson was previously in charge of Notts County alongside Colin Murphy from June 1995 to December 1996. He beat off competition from four other candidates for the role and has signed a three-year deal.

Previously Thompson has also managed Lincoln, Southend and Cambridge while he has also been the caretaker manager at Sheffield United.
