Norwich City's 10am press conference has confirmed Colchester's manager Paul Lambert has taken the post. Lambert oversaw one of the most sensational opening day of the season score-lines ever as Colchester beat promotion favourites Norwich 7-1 at Carrow Road.

A host of names had been linked with the vacancy including Gordon Strachan or Lawrie Sanchez who had both been linked due to Chief Executive McNally's previous associations with Celtic and Fulham. However McNally turned to a player he knew from 'The Hoops'

Adrian Boothroyd, Alan Curbishley, Iain Dowie, Thailand coach Peter Reid, Steve Tilson and ex-Saddler Mark Robins were also on the list linked with the job, along with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink!
