Phil Thompson made a donation live on Sky to Rotherham's Save the Millers campaign.

After airing a piece about the League One club's cash Thompson made a £500 donation. He then called on others to follow his lead.

"When I heard about Rotherham United's situation, I immediately felt I wanted to do something to help. I suggested that every Premiership player who earns more than £100,000-a-year should be encouraged to donate £500 to the Millers." Thompson said.

By making the public donation no-one can accuse Thompson of asking anything he isnt prepared to do himself. And he has also given a Nationwide appeal for the Millers.

The appeal will also helps Walsall FC because should Rotherham fail to see the season out all their results from this season will be wiped from record. This would leave Walsall bottom of League One.
