Ian Brightwell is currently caretaker manager and has been in the job since previous boss Brian Horton was sacked on 1 October. The former Walsall defender has also stated he wants the full time position.
Ince's interest in the job was confirmed when he attended the club's match against Bury at the weekend.
Whoever Macclesfield announce will face a tough job. Macclesfield are currently 8 points adrift at the bottom of League Two and are without a win all season.
