Chasetown defender attracting League One interest

Chasetown's 22 year old defender Chris Slater has been attracting interest from a host of league clubs. The defender, who is comfortable at right back, centre back or sweeper caught Walsall's eye during Chasetown's FA Cup run earlier this season and has since spent time with the squad.

Slater has also had a similar trial with Brian Little's Tranmere Rovers where he was also said to have impressed.  Other clubs rumoured to be monitoring his situation include Blackpool, Crewe and Wrexham.

Chasetown manager Chris Blakemore commented that although the defender is contracted to the club next season, Chasetown will not stand in his way should a league club make an acceptable offer.
