Brighton turn to ex-Chelsea man

Brighton LogoBrighton and Hove Albion have appointed former Tottenham, Leeds and Swindon assistant Gus Poyet as their new first team manaer.

Poyet, who turns 42 this weekend has agreed a contract until the end of next season.

Speaking to BBC Sussex, former UrPoyet commented: "This is another challenge for me to take the club where everybody in Brighton wants to be and that's in the Championship.

"Being realistic I think 18 months is possible. If that is the goal of the club it's no problem."

Gustavo Augusto Poyet Domínguez, being his full name, represented Uruguay 26 times in a playing career that spanned Grenoble, River Plate, Zaragoza, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
