Striker Tommy Johnson has joined Tamworth on loan from Walsall's relegation rivals Scunthorpe United. In the summer the deal will be made permanent after the striker signed pre-contract terms last week.

Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws said "Tommy wants to play regular first team football, we cannot guarantee him that so have agreed to let him go on loan."

Tommy Johnson was signed by Laws in the summer. He was the big name summer signing that Scunthorpe hoped would fire them to League One survival but the move didnt work out. Johnson was unable to dislodge the front pairing of Billy Sharp and Andy Keogh at the Glanford Park.

Tamworth are in a relegation battle themselves. In the last week they have invested the money gained from their impressive FA Cup run by bringing experienced League players to The Lamb to help them keep their Conference status.
