Accrington to let fans in for free!!

Accrington Stanley are to let all supporters in free to their crucial home match against relegation rivals Torquay United on Saturday.

Stanley have been disappointed with their attendances this season and want a bumper crowd to help them in their fight for League survival. Torquay arrive at the Fraser Eagle bottom of the league, six points adrift and with only two away wins all season.

Stanley Chairman Eric Stanley explained his decision to his club's official website http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk:

Saturday was obviously disappointing because we came away empty handed from Swindon, however it was always going to be difficult to take something from that game in particular. What made it more frustrating was that the other teams around us all picked up points.

"Now our focus turns to Saturday's match against Torquay, the first of five remaining home games this season. There has been some unrest in recent weeks for one reason or another, but now it is essential that we all pull together and unite behind the team. We are all Stanley supporters and we all want what is best for the football club

Unfortunately we can't afford to follow the Premiership and slash our ticket prices week in week out as our gate revenue is a much higher portion of our turnover without the television millions that go into the game at the top level. However we hope that this gesture will be seen as us making a real effort to draw everyone together in these last couple of months.

It has been a real rollercoaster ride in recent years, fortunately with more ups than downs, however it is at times like these that we must stand together and be strong. The Torquay match is perhaps the biggest ever in our history, as the League Two bottom side visit the Fraser Eagle Stadium, it is essential that we make our home ground a true fortress."
