Glass half empty or half full - tonight we find out

Last updated : 31 January 2006 By Andy Van Hagen

As we go into tonights game the table does not look a pretty sight. At the moment the talk if of avoiding relegation rather than gaining promotion.

The only glimmer of hope that we can still cling onto, is the fact we only have 28 in our played column!! Tonight we play one of our games in hand. The other fixtures being played tonight in the League One are :

Tuesday, 31 January 2006

Milton Keynes Dons v Nottm Forest, 19:45

Swansea v Gillingham, 19:45

Swindon v Walsall, 19:45

If Walsall were to manage tonight what we have only achieved twice this season to date - an away win, the table would look a little bit rosier. Not including the two other games results Walsall could jump up to 12th place.

Suddenly then the table would become a little easier on the eye. The other game in hand we have is a home fixture against Yeovil Town, which will be played in March.

Of course if we lost tonight another team in the relegation zone becomes 3 points closer to us. Then the thought of relegation really will be on Walsall fans minds.

Tonights match could have a huge bearing on our season. Walsall have been playing much better of late but we are not turning these performances into wins.

Paul Merson is still talking up our play off hopes. Beat Swindon and there still is a extreamly outside chance. Lose toinight and his thoughts sound comical.

A win at the County Ground will put us on 38 points. To achieve a play off place this season Walsall can only realistically lose 4 more games. Any more than this and we will have another season of League One football or worse to look forward too!
